Make Up Past & Present.

Hello there;

A couple of days ago, I took part in the #bbloggers chat on a Sunday. The topic was how your make up routine had evolved. So I went on a hunt for a old photo of my make up collection, and thank the lord (or maybe not), I found one. Please no laughing now, a girl had to learn. And this was from like 2008?

Make Up Past and Present

Lets do a quick run down what I was like in 2008. Emo/Scene kid. Black eyeliner and shadow was what I thought my best friend. How wrong was I?! Right lets delve into what I used to use.

Primer - No idea what primer was.

Foundation - 2?! WHY DID I USE TWO?! Rimmel Lasting Finish and Maybelline Dream Matte Moose. I dread to think of the colour of my skin.

Concealer - Nope, the orange face from wearing TWO foundations hide all my under eye baggage.

Powder - Oh look at that little gem there, Rimmel Stay Matte powder. At least I had a little sense right?

Blusher - I think that is a Tesco own brand blusher.

Bronzer - Nope. The paler the better. Apart from my orange face from using TWO FOUNDATIONS.

Brows - Nothing, probably badly plucked.

Eyeshadow - Well no primer involved here but I think my eyeshadow was a Miners duo? I also have silver eyeshadow there. Don't actually remember ever using that, plus I think I still have that in my collection...

Eyeliner - I went through bottles of the Collection Fast Stroke eyeliner in black of course. I learnt the value of a good cat eye from an early age. Then my pencil eyeliner which was from Avon's teenager range. These where like £1 a pencil, hard times guys. Hard times.

Mascara - Why I didn't photograph these with the names showing, I have no idea. But I think the blue was was a Max Factor one I pinched off my mum. And the black and pink one may have been a Rimmel one?

Lips - Vaseline, always a winner. And the lipstick I remember was a pink sparkly one. I think my mum ended up pinching that off me?

Extras - Eyelashes. Because no scene kid could be seen without MASSIVE lashes. And nope they wouldn't have been cut down to actually fit my eye. Tresemme hairspray to keep hold of that mess of a back combed hair.

Oh dear me. At least the next photo isn't as bad.

Make Up Past and Present

Firstly I have tools to do the jobs on my face. EW to using my fingers for nearly everything before.

Primer - Maybelline Baby Skin, not my favourite but at least I prime now.

Foundation - Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, and only ONE foundation.

Concealer - Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer and Collection Illuminating concealer for highlighting.

Powder - MAC Studio Fix

Blusher - Benefits Rockateur

Bronzer - Benefits Hoola, because now I hate being a pale face.

Brows - Now nicely plucked/waxed and I tend to use Tease from the UD Naked 2 palette.

Eyeshadow - These will be primed now with the UD Primer Potion. Then there is Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze and the UD Naked 2 palette.

Eyeliner - Not photoed because I forgot... But MACs Blacktrack or Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner. Also thrown into the mix is Rimmels Scandaleyes in Nude.

Mascara - Benefits They're Real and Maybellines Falsies. My two favourites!

Lips - MAC Lipsticks

Extras - Zoeva and MAC brushes, UD All Nighter setting spray.

There you have it. Quite embarrassing really but so funny to see! A massive difference.

What are your Make up Past & Present products?

  1. This is such a good post idea! I was a scene/emo kid too so I was all about the black eyeliner! Rimmel's kohl and L'Oreal liquid eyeliner . Notable mention goes to the black Barry M dazzle dust!

  2. Loved this post! My makeup routine has changed so much too! I can't even remember what I used to wear 'back in the day' apart from sh*t loads of eyeliner! I definitely didn't use to bother with blusher, bronzer, eyebrows, lipstick or anything like that! xo

  5. I wish I had a photo of my old make-up! To be honest, I'm the same as you, just black eyeliner was apparently good for me! Erm... no. So glad I've learnt that there's more to life than panda eyes!
