Charlotte Tilbury VS Rimmel

If you recently saw my Selfridges Haul post you will have seen that I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheap in Pillow Talk, a quite iconic in the world of blogging. At £16 though for a lip liner, its a little pricey, so when a drugstore has an alternative for a fraction of the price. Which would you go for?

Rimmel Exaggerate lip liners are amazing for the price that they are, at £3.99 and regularly on offer they really as cheap as chips. I have been using Eastend Snob for a long while now and it is a staple in my makeup bag. I admittedly brought this when I first saw Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk but knew I couldn't afford it, knowing they are a close dupe.

The Charlotte Tilbury packaging to me is something that I would always gravitate too. Its muted metallic shell and its simple text just does it for me. Rimmels packaging is plastic and you can really tell its cheaper. Now don't get me wrong that doesn't make the product any less amazing. I am simply stating which one I prefer to look at.

Obviously one of the biggest differences in the packaging is the applicators, with Rimmel's being a twisty top that will for the up most be forever sharp. Its a very simple design and with the slanted edge you can really keep that line sharp and crisp not worrying if the product will snap or bend. Charlotte Tilbury's in a standard pencil. Well I say standard, its bloody magic. The nib somehow always has at least a sharpish edge even when being used for a all over lip.  There is going to be more product in the lip cheat compared to the exaggerate too, as you can use the lip cheat to the very end; where as exaggerate will only fill maybe just over half of the tube. But come on guy for £3.99 you gonna cry over that?! I didn't think so.

Now to compare the products themselves. Rimmel Eastend Snob is a touch more pink compared to the slightly pinky nude of the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. Exaggerates formula is very creamy and pretty much glides over your lips. I do find if you use a little too much of a heavy hand the product can ball up a touch but this is only happened to me a handful of times. But again I repeat for £3.99 is this a massive issue? Nope I didn't think so either. It longevity for me last a good 4 hours before I can see areas of fading.

Moving on to the lip cheat the formula is so creamy, a touch more than Eastend Snob. I haven't found it to ball up at all and the product really does mimic your natural outline of your lips. Its bloomin' magic. Something a touch more magic about this pencil is how long it lasts. It doesn't budge. At all. When I did the swatches on my arm above I had them on my arm all day (scruffy begger)  and by the end of the day Pillow Talk was still going strong whereas Eastend Snob had worn away.

I don't think I could actually pick a favourite out of these two, I love them both. Have you tried any of these?! Or do you have any other lip liner recommendations?

And I got that red lip, classic thing that you like

Hello there;

When it comes to my make up I am not the best at a smokey eye, in all honesty I don't play about with my twelve eyeshadow palettes enough. Yes twelve. So when I am going out and I want my make up to stand out, my go to item is my red lipsticks. Over the past few years I have grown quite a collection.

In this post I am going to introduce you to six of my favourites.

Make Up Past & Present.

Hello there;

A couple of days ago, I took part in the #bbloggers chat on a Sunday. The topic was how your make up routine had evolved. So I went on a hunt for a old photo of my make up collection, and thank the lord (or maybe not), I found one. Please no laughing now, a girl had to learn. And this was from like 2008?

They see me Haulin'...

Hello there;

Why is it when you pop into town for a couple of items, you come back home with loads of new things. I am just a weak weak person. I literally only popped into town for a new concealer, a nude nail polish and a present for my Auntie. And I ended up coming home with all of this...

Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner

Hello there;

After watching Michelle Phans YouTube account, I was longing for her rose gold waterline. So I made it my mission to find a nude/gold eyeliner to create a similar effect.

I brought a Mac Powersurge kohl eyeliner, but it didn't last as long as I wanted it to in my waterline. It also took some work to get it apply to my waterline to start. So I knew I needed a base.

In comes one of my best buys ever.

Get Ready With Me

Hello there;

If you follow and read my best friends blog, Charlotte Rose, the chances are you have already seen one of half of this post.

We wanted to do our first ever get ready with me post. But as girls do, we got too wrapped into talking and watching things on my laptop, we ended up having to rush getting ready. Which meant the photo side of it didn't really happen.

But here are some snaps I got from the night.

Empties #1

Hello there;

This is my first post of empties, I love watching videos on YouTube about these. So I thought I would do my own for you guys!

Over the past couple of months I have racked up a few items. More than I was expecting as I never really use stuff up all the way. But knowing I was going to be doing this post has motivated me to actually use my items up. Defiantly a plus side to it :)

Weekend Haul

Hello there;

I have had these products now for a couple of weeks and just kinda left them to sit in there little bag, waiting for me to remember about them and to get them out and take photos; or even try them.
I promise I have not brought them this month.

It is a very "face" dominated haul. I just went face mad. A little obsessed at the moment I think.

New background, cute ain't it >.<

BB or CC?

Hello there;

My skin is awful. Its slightly hyper pigmented, it has red spots, dark spots, ACTUAL spots. It's a mess. So when I have to be around thousands of people everyday, I know I need something to cover some of these up without doing a full face of make up everyday.

So my question to you, what is better CC or BB?

2013 Favourites - Part 1

Hello there;

This is the first beauty post of 2014, so why not look over the past year and see what my most favourite and used makeup products were.

Shall we dive right in?

Primer

Monu Illuminating Primer SPF15 - £24.95 50ml - www.monushop.co.uk

I got this travel size (20ml) in a recent Glossybox and at first I wasn't struck on it as it goes on rather white. But I stuck with it and I love it, after a couple of minutes the whiteness does sink in leaving a smooth canvas for the rest of my make up. I have used it every time I do a full make up look. My foundation sticks to this primer and I feel like it gives me that extra little something.

The "Drugstore" Mascara Review

Hello there;

I get complimented on the length of my eyelashes on a weekly basis. Granted they are quite long naturally but I obviously enhance them with a good mascara. I have no single go to mascara, I change it up a bit as I tend to get pretty bored of one certain type of mascara. And I thought it was only fair that I shared my views on the 5 "drugstore" brands that I use.

I hate using the word drugstore, but god how else do I describe it? Not high end? The cheaper ones? Bloody hell I don't know. I guess we've just gotta get over the name and crack on with it right?! Right okay lets go, it's gonna be a long one!

Disclaimer

First things first. I did not curl my eyelashes at all before using the following mascaras, all natural. And on my eyes, I primed them with a little concealer (Collection Lasting Perfection in Light 2) and then set this with my Mac Studio Fix powder in NW25. No editing has been done to enhance the length of the lashes only a little touch up to make the pictures brighter. I also did 2 layers of the mascara on each eye so all of them have a fair chance.

Superdrug Haul.

Hello there;

(Warning, this is a lonnnngggggg post.)

I am a complete sucker for internet shopping, especially when I am skint. For some reason when I have no money, I think spending my remaining pounds online seems completely justifiable. But I think this time it was. (Well that's what I shall keep telling myself)

Now I am a Boots girl through and through. I can easily go in their and spend my entire wage packet. But for some reason I tend to never walk through Superdrug's doors. Why? I have no idea. But one boring night last week I ventured onto the website to see that all so fatal word SALE. Surely it would be rude not to have a look through.

Granted out of the 5 items I brought, only 2 we're in the sale, but, well, I have no excuse. It all came to just under £25.

No the best of photos. Got rubbish light in my living room today -_-! So here is what I got.

Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish

Hello there;

After work today I went up to the make-up section (always a bad idea for me) and came across this little bad boy for just £2.70 BARGAIN!

Rimmel's 60 Seconds nail polish in 503 Mind The Gap, Victoria.

Such a pretty bluey purple colour. I am really loving the pastel nail polish colours at the moment.

Sadly, I had to do 3 coats of this to get an even finish. The first coat was so wishy washy, it looked horrible. So gappy. I can never understand why they don't make nail polishes thick enough so one coat is just enough...... COME ON  GUYS SORT IT OUT!

Luckily it does what it says on the tin and dries really quickly, so I wasn't wait around for ages scared to touch stuff while my nails dried. Which pleased me.

Even with all that negativity up there, I would recommend this to anyone as its a great colour and in the end, my nails do look rather pretty >.<

Do you guys recommend any of the other colours?!

Let me know!
