Hello there;
Since I have stopped going on the sun beds, I have become quite accustomed to using fake tans. I am usually more of a mousse girl, think Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan. Yano that sort of girl. But when I was contacted by Tan Organic to try out their Self Tanning Oil, I was very intrigued.
I was very surprised when my parcel arrived as it also contained a Tan-Erase mitt which has been VERY useful as I have been meaning to get a pair of exfoliating gloves for some time now. This is so easy to use and is very effective. AND yes there is more, a yummy box of chocolates that didn't last 5 minutes in my house.
Tan Organic claims its self tanning oil are;
- Smell free
Perfect fade
- Natural
- Hydrating
Did it do all of these four things?

As you can see in my before photos above I was Bella Twilight pale. I really needed a tan fast. I showered, exfoliated and moisturised my ankles, knees and elbows as normal. I grabbed my trusty tanning mitt and placed a few drops of oil onto the mitt. My first thoughts were the oil was clear, for some reason I was expecting to be slightly brown but nope clear which is fine. It is really runny though, so be careful not to spill it all over your floors. A little does go a long way as well.
When applying this to my body I did notice there was NO colour pay off, I had no idea where I had rubbed or not which is very frustrating. I am so used to having a tiny bit of colour pay off when I use my other fake tans. But I carried on. There is no smell when you are applying this tan either I mean who likes the biscuit smell? No one!
After I had finished, I couldn't see any colour change at all but from looking at the photos above, yes there was a slight brown tinge to me. Now it was the waiting game. I am fully aware this is a oil and oils take longer to sink into your skin. So Palmer had the joy of watching me walk around naked for 15 minutes trying not to touch anything. After 15 minutes I couldn't take the cold anymore and popped my pjs on. I wasn't 100% dry but hey, it was close enough. Around 2 hours later, I could smell the fake tan smell. So there is no smell when applying this tan but it does come after! But I have never used a tan that doesn't give you the biscuit wiff at some point.
Morning after |
The next day I woke up and felt well black. Ill say it. This tan certainly developed a lot over night. A lot more than I was expecting. I was a very natural shade of brown. I do love the colour it has given me. My skin was also SO SOFT. I cannot fault it on how hydrating it is. The tan lasted 4 days for me before it really shown any signs of fading. Which is about average for the tans I usually use. It did fade very evenly though I couldn't see any streaks, this obviously pleased me. No one wants to be streaky now do they.
Over all I quite like this tan, I really wished there was more of a colour pay off though upon applying it as I had a white band around my hair line for 2 days, thank god for my hair. For £20 you can easily get 5-6 uses out of the bottle, which I think its pretty darn good.
