Sanctuary 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask

Hello there;

I had A LOT of you asking for this to be reviewed on my Boots Haul post a while back. And of course I didn't want to let you down. It took me a while to post this as I wanted to give a fair trial to see what I thought about it.

I haven't really played about with masks much. Really only ever stuck to the Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed. But I knew it was time to come out of that comfort zone and try a new mask. When I say that Sanctuary had a bit of a sale on, it only seemed fitting I went for this. It's normal price is £10.50, but at the moment it has £3.50 off. £7 for a mask, I thought was pretty decent.

The Sanctuary Deep Cleanse Facial 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask, is a self warming charcoal mask as well as a mouthful to say. I love self warming masks, why I stuck with No Clogs Allowed for so long. I find it so relaxing when I am in the bath pampering myself.

As you can see from the photo above, the product is a light grey with black speckles in it. It's consistency is a little gel like. I was expecting a much more exfoliant texture from this, but no it is really smooth. There is a slight scent to it as well, which reminds me of playdoh. Not the most pleasant but if you can get past that then you will be fine with this mask.

When applying the mask I make sure I have cleansed my skin throughly using a cleanser, at the moment the Peaches and Clean, Soap and Glory one. Rinse this off and leave the skin slightly damp. I run a flannel under the hot water tap and leave it on my face for a couple of minutes to open up my pores and to dampen my skin. It really makes a difference.

Once the first steps are done, I apply a layer of this all over my face in the usual face mask fashion. And yes it says leave it on for 5 minutes. I do 20. I tried 5 minutes and yes my skin felt clean and soft, but I thought that it wasn't at it's best. So the couple of time after when using this I left if on for 20 minutes (not sure why I picked 20, I just did). And the results where great. My skin felt loads cleaner, tighter and more what I expected.

The mask really pulls up all the dirt in your skin. I have found when it is on my skin and coming towards the end of my 20 minutes you can see where the pores are and the dirt coming out with little dots on my face. Maybe I am wrong but in my head it makes perfect sense to me.

I really like this mask and would recommend it to anyone with any skin type really.

Have you used this mask?
Or want to recommend me another one to try.

  2. This is definitely going to be on my list of things to try! I just reviewed a Dove self warming hair mask, the warming sensation is so relaxing. The two would definitely go together well!

  8. This mask sounds great! I wonder if they sell this brand in the US. I will have to look into it. I really like the Freeman Beautiful Avocado and Oatmeal Mask. I just grabbed another one by that brand that I am trying out tonight. Thanks for sharing Sian
